Frequently Asked Questions

Are your candles completely natural?

Yes. Our candles are made from a blend of 100 per cent natural soya and coconut wax. They contain no paraffin, phthalates, synthetic dyes or harmful chemicals. All our formulations are environmentally friendly and safe for your health.

What is paraffin and why don’t you use it?

Paraffin is a by-product of petroleum. Although it is cheap, it can be harmful to the environment and to health. At Nature Whiff, we have made it a principle to avoid petrochemical products.

How can I tell if a candle contains paraffin?

If the packaging does not state ‘100% natural wax’ or ‘paraffin-free’, you may have reason to be sceptical. At Nature Whiff, we practise transparent labelling and our ingredients are always natural.

Are your perfumes harmful to your health?

No. All our fragrances are phthalate-free, IFRA-certified and made from raw materials sourced from natural sources. They have been specially formulated by chemists.

How should I light my candles?

When lighting the candle for the first time, allow the pool of melted wax to spread across the entire surface of the glass. Trim the wick to a length of 0.5–0.7 cm before each use. Take care not to leave it burning for more than 3–4 hours at a time.

What should I look out for with cotton-wicked candles?

Trim away any black clumps that have built up at the tip of the wick. Do not move the candles whilst they are burning. It is normal for the wick to curve slightly; this is a self-cleaning feature.

Why don’t you produce mouldless candles (candle holders)?

Natural waxes have a low melting point, which means that candles made without moulds cannot retain their shape. For this reason, we use only glass or ceramic containers, which are both safe and aesthetically pleasing.

Why are your candles colourless?

We do not use any dyes to preserve the natural appearance. Some essential oils may cause slight colour changes in the beeswax; this is entirely natural and does not affect the quality.

Do you make all your candles yourselves?

Yes. All Nature Whiff candles are carefully handcrafted using the hand-poured method in our workshop in Urla, Izmir.

How should I store candles?

A cool, dry place away from direct sunlight is ideal. Due to its natural ingredients, temperatures above 30°C may damage the candle’s structure.

How strong is the scent of candles?

Our aim is to create a fresh and natural atmosphere. Rather than strong scents that might cause headaches, natural aromas that promote a sense of calm have been chosen. We recommend using more than one candle for larger spaces.Hsfw?
